Song Hye Kyo And “the Heirs” Actor Shared Sweet Looks At The Chaumet Event
Fans from around the globe chimed in on Twitter to congratulate the SongSongCouple on their wedding as #SongSongCoupleWedding trended #1 worldwide during the time of their wedding. There was particular interest from Chinese fans with the wedding being searched for about 160 million times as of 6PM on Tuesday. It was reported that Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki turned down a 15 billion won (approximately $13.4 million USD) offer for permission to live stream the event but a few Chinese media outlets flew drone cameras over the venue to livestream the private event illegally. They didn't let it ruin their big day but it still sucks. Their agency has announced that they will not take legal action since their wedding is meant to be a happy event.
Perhaps the sweetest personal account came from Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, a close friend of Song Hye Kyo who flew in just to attend the wedding. She noted on her Weibo that the ceremony wasn't lavish and devoid of any pretensions and sponsorships. All she could see was how attentive Joong Ki was to Hye Kyo the entire time. He kept warming her hands when she seemed cold, he fixed her hair when the wind blew and he got emotional a few times while reading his vows. He may be a few years younger, but it's obvious how deeply he loves her. She was happy to see Kyo marrying for love and it was all so simple and heartwarming. Honestly, simplicity is the best when it comes to love.
Ziyi could not have said it any better. Weddings do not be ostentatious and over the top, they should be a celebration of love. I'm not surprised at all that these two opted for such a low key ceremony. I've been captivated by Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki together ever since I began watching Descendants of the Sun and suspected that they had become a real life couple early on from their actions towards one another. Their love story is real and they've been following their hearts the whole time. It's really refreshing in an age when celebrities do anything and everything just for attention.
Song Hye Kyo Surprised The Audience With The Cruel Image
Their agencies released these charming pre-wedding photos shot this in San Francisco on their wedding day. Congratulations Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo! May you have a lifetime of love, good health and wedded bliss together!Life imitated K-drama when Song Joong Ki, 32, and Song Hye Kyo, 35, tied the knot in a super hush-hush ceremony. The Wedding of the Decade (or some say, Century) between the Descendants of the Sun’s stars aimed to be as private and low-key as possible. In the lead-up to the Songs’ big day, deets were shrouded in secrecy. The couple’s agencies also released a statement on the four no-nos during the Songs’ wedding: No press con, no photography, no photo wall and no interviews. In fact, a ceiling tent had been originally set up to deter the media from taking photos. But after vehement protest from the local press, that plan was axed and the wedding saw the light of day, quite literally. Unlike other sponsored nuptials, the couple, who reportedly splashed S$70, 000 on the wedding, had also turned down all sponsorship offers. Only about 300 close friends and family members were invited to the intimate affair. Of course, the private and low-key event was anything but private and low-key.
Fans and the media pulled out all stops to get a glimpse of the alfresco wedding which took place at the traditional annex wing of the swanky Shilla Hotel in Seoul on Oct 31. Korean news outlets flew drones over the outdoor ceremony and booked rooms at the hotel where the wedding was held so they could snap photos paparazzi-style. This leave-no-stone-unturned stance to capture the event despite their media ban on their big day has incurred the ire of netizens who railed against the invasion of the Songs' privacy. (Hmm, pray tell, are they the same netizens searching for Song-Song couple’s wedding pics online?)
Meanwhile, hundreds of fans and reporters thronged the heavily-guarded area outside the annex. Some fans were coincidentally in Korea while others had flown over especially for the wedding. Even our very own Carrie Wong waded in on the K-drama-worthy action, IG-storying panoramic footage of the private wedding-in-progress.
Song Joong Ki & Katy Louise Love Story Began After Song Hye Kyo Divorce
Thankfully, despite the couple’s initial no-photo-taking rule, their respective agencies released wedding pics. Also, social media was flooded with #songsongwedding pics, thanks to those lucky enough to score a coveted invite, like a one Zhang Ziyi.
Now that the wedding is over, and the celeb couple will be jetting to Europe for their honeymoon, here’s hoping that it won’t be long before we hear news about any, um, descendants of the Songs.
The ceremony was hosted by Joong Ki’s longtime friend. Another of his close friends, Park Bo Gum, gave a piano performance while musical actress Ock Joo Hyun, Hye Kyo’s close pal, sang ‘A Whole New World’. The couple’s close buds, actors Lee Kwang Soo and Yoo Ah In read out letters to them. Kwang Soo, who’s known Joong Ki for eight years, reportedly said to the bride: Hye Kyo, I'll leave my friend, Song Joong Ki, in your hands.

, and shot a Chinese cosmetic ad with the groom. Other celeb guests spotted at the star-studded shindig included Lee Kwang Soo, Park Bo Gum, Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Jong Kook, Haha, Cha Tae Hyun, So Ji Sub and Super Junior’s Lee Donghae.
Pre-ceremony, Ziyi shared this pic of the couple’s wedding invitation on Weibo. The couple reportedly hand-delivered invitations to friends prior to their big day. While Ziyi received a special handwritten invite from Hye Kyo, the standard invite included a line that read: “We have finally found the right person after waiting for a long time.” Cue the ‘You Are My Everything’ soundtrack.
The couple’s marital home is rumoured to be this two-storey house located in the affluent Itaewon district in Seoul. This will make the Songs neighbours with Rain and Kim Tae Hee. Joong Ki reportedly bought the residence for 10 billion won (S$12 mil) in January while he was dating Hye Kyo.
Song Hye Kyo (송혜교) Mydramalist
Hye Kyo’s wedding band reportedly costs HKD$31, 000 (S$5, 400) and is from the Bee My Love collection by French luxury jeweller Chaumet. But the real jewel in Mrs Song Joong Ki’s bridal crown was her floral bouquet. Made of Lily of the Valley flowers which signifies the return of happiness, her bouquet had to be imported from overseas as the flowers are not grown locally, and is estimated to cost a whopping HKD$70, 000 (S$12, 200). That’s more than her wedding ring!
